Tim Shinn, a creative, independent freelance photographer lives in the mountains of Summit County, Colorado. His father, an avid photographer, was the catalyst for his profound fascination with the art of photography as a young boy. Following his father’s early death, Tim inherited a classic Leica rangefinder camera and continued his studies of photography. During his tenure as a ski patrolman and heli-ski guide in the US and New Zealand, Tim traveled to mysterious, challenging and exotic locations around the globe, always carrying his camera. This provided him the opportunity to meet and photograph the people and places of lands of myth and legend in Asia, the South Pacific as well as North America. His adventures have included a 9000 km eight-week solo bike/train trip in China, a winter skiing/mixed-climbing ascent of Mount Cook (the highest peak in New Zealand), rock climbing in Australia, circumnavigation on foot of several of the islands of French Polynesia and Fiji and a 2300 mile five-week solo bike trip along the spine of the Rocky Mountains in the US and Canada.
